I've heard a lot of good reviews about the place but never had a chance to go with my family until last week. The price is a little more expensive than your usual sushi joint, but the freshness and selection of fish is very worth the price in my opinion. There is also a selection of original rolls that are very yummy. I personally prefer the "scallop magma", spicy tuna sushi topped with chopped scallop and a drizzle of black sesame sauce. We also ordered deluxe assorted sashimi and a prawn and vegetable tempura which were also very good. It's definitely a place I would go to again whenever I feel like a special sushi treat.

The food is good and gives a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine other than sushi. This is food Japanese people eat on a daily basis. Portions are quite large but the price is very reasonable.

the food quality is really good and the selection is broad considering it is $14 all you can eat (and thats only evenings, lunch is cheaper like $9).  they had a pretty big change in staff and the new staff are really hot.  a lot of the people from richmond word there too.  the service is quick and efficient but there is a big wait sometimes so call ahead and be on time, it isnt dennys.  its a great place for dates and girls nights out because a big group can eat so reasonably and the drinks are pretty cheap too.

ive been going to their richmond location for ages and i like it a lot but their other location on broadway at burrard is super good.  the beef is a little fatty but it adds so much flavour that i dont mind.  they have so many veggies and tofus to choose from and the drinks are really good.  the drinks with no alchohol are a few dollars but so is bubble tea at some crappy place down the street, at least the atmosphere is nice.  they have massive flat screen tvs and the serving staff are good looking (big bonus).  the first time i went they said that if i wasted the meat theyd charge me and i was pissed but then i realized it was right on the menu and every all you can eat place does that cuz otherwise every person would order too much and its not good to waste food.  for less than $14 a person its super cheap considering the atmosphere and the food and location.  i still love the richmond one but the broadway one is so good too

I was profoundly disappointed with this restaurant. Believe me if I say, with no exaggeration, that the service ranks amongst the rudest that I have ever experienced in all my adventures in dining. The exterior is promising: traditional kimchee pots and a welcome sign in three different Asian languages; robust drawings of Korean women in hanboek; film stills from 'Dae Jang Geum' . . . has to be really authentic, right? Inside, we were hustled in to our cramped table by a wordless waiter. Ten minutes later, a jug of lukewarm tea arrived. We make our choices, fold up our menus, and try for over twenty minutes to flag down a server. It's not that they were busy . . . it was crowded, yes, but the roaming, disorganised waiters looked totally haphazard in their approach. Fed up with being ignored, we left. On the way out, I politely but firmly addressed the manager. I noticed that he gave due attention to quite a few customers who came in later than us, and I wanted to voice my distress at what I felt to be poor service. I pointed out that it was my wife and mine's anniversary, and that I was looking forward to a good meal. At this point, a simple, "How can I fix things, sir?" would have erased my annoyance. Instead, he shrugged me and said, "Yeah, so?" Maybe the food's excellent. But I wouldn't put down my hard earned cash to be treated in such a crass manner. Richmond is full of excellent restaurants. Why put up with that kind of treatment? We went to Minami Izakaya, just across the street, and it was excellent.

This is just like any other HK Cafe out there. Minimal service, cheap food. Why else would anyone go to a HK Cafe? You get in there, you order, you do the ritual cleansing of untensils with hot tea, you eat, you pay, you leave. It's simple and quick, no extras. To those unfamiliar with HK Cafes, think DINER. Don't expect 5 star service and spotless forks. As with many HK Cafes in Richmond, the people who work there AND the people who eat there are Chinese. If your Chinese sucks and you feel overly sensitive about it, go to Earls. If you're not Asian and you feel uncomfortable in predominantly Asian environments, go to Earls. The food is your standard fare. I find it to be better than many of the HK Cafes in Richmond. They are reasonably priced, the portions are big, and it tastes pretty good. One more note - why oh why would anyone have seafood in a restaurant that doesn't specialize in it? If you do, don't expect fresh - that applies to restaurants beyond HK Cafes.

I lived in Richmond for 18 years, and I can hardy think of any other place good as this one if you want to treat yourself.  Even my mom would bring her "classy" friends there for drinks too! Their small plates are wonderful!  Crab cakes, clams, salmon tartar, and black truffle soup are all time fave.  For big dish, their duck is a must try item even you don't like duck in general. (My boyfriend would sometime order extra one to bring home to his mom!) We had the chocolate lava cake tonight, and that was stunning! Will surely go back! I recommend to go their in the weekend when they have the live music!  You can even make somg request to the singer, she is awesome!

It is newly introduced to me by a friend. She suggested the place because the place was authentic (operated by Japanese). Although they do not have many selections in the restaurant, I think it is just enough for you to try something different. It is not like any other regular Japanese restaurant. This would be a place where you don't order sushi to eat. It is more like rice bowl or udon. I had the deep fried pork cutlet rice (w/salad & miso soup). The portion is just right, and the price is very reasonable. It is inexpensive at all. If people are looking for a nice & different place to try our lunch/dinner, then I would suggest this restaurant. It is in a Japanese senior home's first floor. So first timers might be curious about the place. There are many outsiders who come into the restaurant to try their rice bowls/udon out. It is surprisingly well known, as there was a long line up waiting for seats when my friends and I went there.

The customer service is almost non existent. The owner is extremly rude (yea, even by Vancouver's standards), and the quality of the food was not worth the trip! The server never approached us to ask if we want anything, but the manager was quite angry that we hadn't ordered anything! My friends or I will never step foot in that place again.

Based on a really good experience I had from this restaurant a couple years ago, I visited this restaurant recently and was disappointed. The atmosphere and service are still nice, but the food was not prepared very well.  The dishes were either tasteless or too salty.  I hope that was just because I went there on the wrong day.
