Great View - Terrible food - Bad service

The view over the lake and up to the mountains from the restaurant is breath taking. The rest, however, is jaw droppingly bad.

I recently went to Edgewater Lodge with my wife. The night was a special supirise for her on our honeymoon.

Initially the service was good and the staff were friendly. As soon as a larger group came in it was like we didn't exist. All three service staff were hovering around any table with a group of more than 4, obviously hoping for a large tip at the expense of all the other guests in the restaurant.

When the food came was when the night really went bad. My sea food chowder (I heard at least 3 different explanations for the style of chowder it was by the staff) was...... ok. Very average, a bit bland and to be honest I could have made much better myself at home.

The worst part of all was the duck I had for mains. At ordering I was asked how I would like it cooked. As duck is a personal favourite and something I enjoy a lot back home in the UK I went for rare as I like it good and pink. When I got my shriveled up bit of meat it was totally unedible, cooked untill it was dry. I complained and the waitress took it back and agreed to replace it for me. The replacement came and it was better, but nowhere near how I had asked for it to be cooked. Half the breast was edible but the other half tasted like out of date, over cooked liver.

The desert was a dissapointment too. On their menu and website the big up the deserts. They really shouldn't. It tasted fine but I've had better at Weatherspoons (for anyone not from the UK Weatherspoons is a large chain of pubs offering cheap and cheerfull food) back home.

Overall the whole experiance is one I'd rather forget. I certantly won't  be going back there, and any one who actually enjoys good food, I encourage you to stay away too.
